Art students draw crowds and break records...
Dated:
11 June 2024
Woodhouse art students (L-R) Myro, Harerta, Melina and Holly
Woodhouse Art Department are incredibly proud to share news that ten of our fantastic A level artists have been awarded places on the Art Foundation Course at the prestigious University of the Arts (UAL). This is a record for us - and possibly for any single school or college.
UAL includes Central St Martins, which has been rated as the number one undergraduate art school in the world for many years. There were 4500 applicants for the course this year with 550 places going to British students.
Seven of our students are pictured here at our A level Art private view last week. Linh, Mimi and Isabella were the other successful applicants. A massive well done to them all.
At least 50% of our art students go on to study an art related course at foundation or degree level.
Peers and parents at the Private View
Head of Art at Woodhouse, Sharon White, told us "We had a great turn out at this year's Private View on Thursday 6th June. The atmosphere was electric and the work being showcased was truly outstanding.
Many visitors commented on the incredible skill and attention to detail in the work of this year's cohort. Lots of proud friends and family made the event lively and full of warmth and joy.
The work was hugely varied and diverse with an enjoyable sense of playfulness in many pieces. A big thank you to all who came and a special thanks to the students who worked so hard to make the wonderful work on display."
(L-R) Natalie, Adam and Tabby
